Many Cottage Adventures Await You Beyond the Lake House
While there are lots of things to do at the lake house, your Muskoka cottage experience can be extended with just a short drive to beautiful Parry Sound or some of the neighboring cottage towns nearby. Our cottage is just a 6-minute drive from the highway. Parry Sound is ten minutes away and there are many great places less than half an hour’s drive from the lake house. Here are some suggestions we can personally recommend for taking care of that cottage to-do list beyond the lake house property.
Visit Picturesque Parry Sound
Staying at Aisling means you are just 10 minutes from Parry Sound, one of Muskoka’s most picturesque cottage communities. Whether you are looking for quaint place to eat , want to do a little shopping, or are interested in hockey history this little town is the essence of Muskoka life. Every summer, Parry Sound hosts an amazing classical musical festival with concerts taking place over a series of weeks in venues across Parry Sound, both indoor and outdoor. Many of these events are free or low cost. This lake-front summer market is a favourite Friday destination for Muskoka cottagers at Aisling Lakehouse. In addition to locally grown produce and yummy fresh concessions, live entertainment, artists, and artisans can be found here. Rosseau is just south of Parry Sound—about 30 minutes from our cottage. It usually runs late June through September on Friday mornings 9am -2pm. Summer only
Outdoor Adventures in Parry Sound and Surrounding Muskoka
Visit a Muskoka Wildlife Centre
If you’re eager to get an up-close look at the creatures leaving those tracks you’re seeing around the lakehouse, take an hour or two to visit this amazing animal rescue and rehabilitation centre. Moose, deer, bear, wolves, otters, and beavers are all likely guests before they are released back into the wild. Guided tours are by appointment only and proceeds go to helping to healing and rehabilitating the animals. Year-round.
Rumble Through Parry Sound Wilderness on an ATV
For more on-land adventures explore the Canadian shield in an all terrain vehicle (ATV). Bear Claw ATV tours offer group tours with fully trained guides and provide all the equipment needed. Trail side refreshment and snacks are included, too! Tours last around 3-4 hours. Open April through October.
Take In Muskoka from the Air
Muskoka is famous for its islands and lakes and the only way to fully take this in is from the air. Sightseeing air tours of Parry Sound or the 30,000 islands are breathtaking at any time of year and Georgian Bay Airways even offers a sunset champagne tour or couples.
Ski More of Muskoka
In winter, we have plenty of snow and trails here at the cottage, but if you would like to explore more of Muskoka Georgian Nordic Ski Club offers ski rentals with an extensive trail system for novices to experienced skiers. Located just half an hour north of cottage at Nine Mile Lake.
Cruise Parry Sound and Muskoka
A cruise amidst Georgian Bay’s 30,000 Islands offers a stunning look at the world’s largest freshwater archipelago. The 2-hour morning (July-August ONLY) cruise begins at 10 AM and the 3-hour afternoon (June – October) cruise begins at 1PM , departing from the Bay Street dock in downtown Parry Sound, Ontario. Open June – October.
Explore a Neighboring Muskoka Lake
Whether you’re looking for a place to dock your motor boat or you’d like to rent one for the week, Otter Lake Marina is just five minutes down the road. With 6km of shoreline, there is even more opportunity for lake trout, bass, and northern pike fishing. Or you may like to rent a seadoo for the day. This long and narrow lake has many inlets and channels to explore.
Have Fun With Muskoka Summer Water Sports
After you leave the market, drive a little further south to let the kids enjoy the inflatable water park at Muskoka Summer Water Sports. You can also enjoy pontoon boat tours or do some water skiing on the bigger lakes in the area.
Spend the Day Exploring the Islands of Georgian Bay
Parry Sound offers one of Ontario’s best training and tour centres for canoeing and kayaking. White Squall has been around for a long time and they provide amazing tours of Georgian Bay an the 30,000 Islands. They’re also great for large groups as they will customize a day tour that’s perfect for the skill levels of your group. Open summer only.
